Ebook reader, Kobo/Paperwhite 이북리더

As a tech-savvy, I am also interested in e-books and readers when they first came out in Sony's 'Libre' around 2004. 
It can reduce the amount of paperback books and is easy to carry wherever you go, I hope to get it one day. 

However, Amazon Kindle became popular with the content of books rather than Sony's. Also, KOBO has gotten name with the design and is compatible with local public libraries. 

My first e-book reader is the Kobo Glo. refurbished one. It was released in 2012, but I bought 2015? It has a front light. 2G storage, it can run EPUB files mainly. I was so satisfied with the machine, I bought wake-up covers and one more for my wife. Still, it works well in 2025. 

There was KOROID, which was an unofficial firmware edited to use Android on a Kobo machine. Also, added language files for the Korean book usage. Over the times, it became comfortable to use the way I used. I read quite many books with this e-reader and have no regret about buying the ebooks.

Kobo company was sold to Japan, Rakuten, and some functions were blocked, like borrow directly from the public library, the usage of the ebook became less. 

I have some curiosity about Kindle Paperwhite, whenever people praise the reader. So I ended up buying a refurbished Kindle Paperwhite(2018) 10th generation. more storage,8 GB and waterproof. Also, feeling Prime Reading was wasted without the Kindle machine. 

Compared with Kobo Glo (2012) vs Kindle Paperwhite(2018), I am surprised I still like the Kobo. I ordered the covers from Aliexpress. Kobo's Functions are more and easier with upgraded firmware. Even some values with Prime reading, it's not much readable contents in that option. Especially, the file format uses AZW, not EPUB. So it doesn't support well unless converted. My Kobo is outdated, but I can still download E-books to Kobo through my computer. 

However, I still want to explore more about the Kindle machine to find the reason for the most famous E-book reader.
